After picking up a six-string at the age of 12, Darren Stroud has since developed proficiency in a range of musical styles. He lists his favorite guitar players as Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Brad Paisley.
His gear setup includes an ESP EC-256, Blankenship amps, a Boss SD-1 [overdrive] and a Boss CS-3 [compressor]. “Wow! What an honor!” Darren says. “With so many amazing guitarists out there I’m just totally honored to be considered, thank you so much!”

PowerTribe covers DIO. During this quarancation (while we are not performing any shows or hunkering in the studio) … John Chominsky (drummer of PowerTribe) suggested that we try our hand at some cover songs.
We liked the idea as we haven’t really tried any covers as a band. While some people can really see the talent of bands through their original songs, others determine the degree of talent through how well bands can play songs that are familiar or popular. So we really liked the idea of sharing our talents however way that we can.
John thought the song “The Last In Line” would be a cool song to approach. We all agreed. And of course, DIO is truly The Godfather of Metal so creating an appropriate rendition was really important to us.
PowerTribe gave it shot. We recorded all the music and it was a perfect choice for us. We are very proud of this tribute to DIO. It was a lot of fun creating the video and filming in our remote places. We were making music from Los Angeles to Colorado.
We hope you will support this video on YouTube and pass it along for others to check it out too. We would love to get the word out about PowerTribe. If it takes a cover song to get people to listen to our original music, then we have done our job.

PowerTribe’s 2020 shows have all been canceled. We look forward to performing for our friends and fans again and we will do so when everyone’s safety can be assured.
In the meantime, we have written lots of music and recorded 11 songs in the studio. All songs were mixed and mastered by grammy-award nominated producer/mix engineer, Jacob Hansen(Amaranthe, The Black Dahlia Murder, Epica, Delain, Evergrey). We have this release “on hold” right now and we are looking for distribution when the time is right.
PowerTribe has worked on a few videos as individuals and as a band. We are currently revisiting some “covers” from our favorite artists and we plan to create these into recordings and videos while we wait.
Darren Stroud’s “cover” video is below. This video is a cool collaboration between Darren on guitars, Darren on bass, and the real Neil Peart on the drums (via performance videos). This video is like watching note-for-note perfection. You will enjoy this video if you are a RUSH fan. Darren’s personal guitar embellishments are added in a way that maybe only another guitarist can fully enjoy and appreciate. We feel that it is quite a heartfelt tribute to Neil Peart.

UPDATE:This was the date (OCTOBER 21, 2019) that Frankie Banali revealed that he was diagnosed with stage-IV pancreatic cancer – just 5 days before this show. This was one of his final performances and we were honored to have shared the stage with Frankie. He is truly a fine musician and a gentleman. He rocked the drums like he was full of vigor and energy that night.
Frankie Banali died from the disease on August 20, 2020, at age 68. He was the second member of the classic Metal Health-era Quiet Riot lineup to have died, following Kevin DuBrow in November 2007. Frankie Banali was forced to sit out on several Quiet Riot shows throughout 2019 as he was receiving treatment for his cancer. We were blessed to be with him and to hear him play those drums that night.
PowerTribe will be sharing the stage at The Whisky with Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper for a Special “Sunday Metal” Show on Sept 8th.
PoweTribe will be hitting the stage at 8:45 pm Sharp.
Back by popular demand, Steve Grimmet’s GRIM REAPER will be performing at the Whisky. Steve is truly an amazing rocker with great endurance. In January 2017, Steve was hospitalized in Ecuador due to an aggressive infection on his right leg below the knee, where it was amputated in the process. He remained stationed in the medical facility until being released in February. He can bring the house down while wearing his prosthetic leg and using a cane. It is truly a sight to behold to hear that amazing voice and to feel his powerful energy.
